Kathy McHugh

Legal Triage Director

kathy-mchughKathy McHugh has a variety of interesting responsibilities at LA LAW Center. Basically, she is taking her vast knowledge of business development, operations management, financial investment training, elder care training and using it to support the office operations and business development of her husband’s law firm. She is also very proud of the YELP reviews from happy clients and return business or referrals to LA Law Center.

As “Triage Director”, Kathy makes a point of speaking all clients or potential clients to properly “TRIAGE” them and determine how to help get their issues properly addressed in a timely manner. She conducts all initial consultations to respond to their immediate questions and project manages case deadlines, which allows her husband, Joe (LA Law Center’s founding attorney) and his legal team to concentrate on completely legal work on scheduled active client cases. She spends a lot of time on the phone with pre-scheduled phone appointments.

She also is a Medi-Cal expert and guides our clients to qualify for Medi-CAL Long Term Care (nursing home) benefits planning and files successful Medi-CAL applications for our clients. Kathy is well versed and a great resource of information about seniors needs in legal, financial, health, and social issues. She is happy to be able to help families in crisis with information that helps them maneuver through the elder care maze in California which is always changing.

Before she joined LA LAW Center, Kathy worked in a financial investment firm and before that, she was the founder of a boutique consulting company, called KMC Consulting. Here with over 20 years of business planning and management experience in international leisure and media business development (after 13 initial formative years with the Walt Disney Company & the team that built EPCOT Center). Kathy had developed a well-respected, internationally recognized reputation for providing professional consulting services, including operational “fatal flaws” analysis, new business development, operational planning and troubleshooting for a variety of leisure related businesses. When operating KMC Consulting, she was in Abu Dhabi, UAE when the 9/11 World Trade Center Disaster happened. At this time, Kathy made a critical decision to close her consulting business that required a lot of international travel and help her husband expand his law practice here in Burbank California.

Today, she uses all this combined experience in her daily operational work at LA Law Center. Kathy is personally fulfilled in helping clients and their families that need help in “getting their affairs in order” and protect their hard-earned assets!

Kathy resides in Southern California with her husband and two children (that have both finished their college and PHD educations and are now full-fledged working, successful California residents…YAY!). She also loves gardening, hosting family & friends feasts, and taking care of the menagerie of animals at their home. The animal list keeps growing including a tiny Papillion and two other rescued dogs, a wild peacock named Big Bird (and his growing family), a retired quarter horse mare, Kali and her BFF Elsa, a rescued donkey. Kathy’s kids call her “Snow White” because of all the animals that show up in her front yard when she step out of her front door each morning… and she loves it!
