Qualifying for Nursing Home Medi-CAL with Assets
Medi-Cal Laws Are Changing And Assets Will Not Count Starting January 2024!
Effective January of 2024… California will have a NO Asset Limit for qualification to get California Medi-Cal Benefits. Medi-Cal has only an income limitation.
In 2024, the countable monthly income must be at or below $1,731 (for an individual) or $2,350 (for a married couple)… Countable monthly income is determined by taking your gross monthly and deducting health insurance premiums. If you have a higher income, you may qualify with a “share of cost” (deductible).
If you are facing skilled nursing care these income level change and a deductible (share of costs) can be applied at any income levels that an individual or couple may have.
NOTE: Asset Limits for SSI remains at:
- Single: $2,000;
- Couple: $3,000
- To keep SSI Benefits when expecting an inheritance or a lawsuit settlement, we can help with a Special Needs Trust (if you are under 65 years old) and have this money go directly into this trust.
We can help you save your money by applying for Medi-CAL Benefits to pay for Nursing Home Care and protecting all of your assets from Medi-CAL Estate Recovery!
